Found in shallow tropical and temperate waters worldwide, seahorses are a small type of marine fish of which there are over 50 known species. Their name comes from the shape of their head and neck, reminiscent of a horse and unique to an aquatic creature.
Description
Very little is known about the population numbers of many of the different seahorse species. In fact, there is such a lack of reliable information that some scientists believe that a handful of known species may actually be extinct. Like many creatures that depend on coral reefs and seagrass ecosystems, seahorses are losing viable habitat, and this, combined with increasing rarity, has some marine biologists worried.

Size and Color:
Although seahorses can come in many different colors, they are predominantly brown, tan, white, orange and, in the case of this figure, a sunny yellow.
