The Chincoteague Pony and the Assateague Pony are two pony breeds that live on the Assateague Islands of Virginia and the Chincoteague of the State of Maryland. The two different types are basically the same breed and are feral horses that are descended from horses that were brought to America by the Europeans in the late 15th century. Exactly how the ponies ended up on the isolated islands is hidden in mystery.
Description
Unfortunately, the pony has many problems that come from uncontrolled breeding and the bad grazing that exists on the island.
The horses sold at the auction tend to be excellent riding ponies for children, although the breed still has some external flaws. The upbringing with poor grazing and harsh climate has made the pony hardy, durable and cheap to operate.
Made of PVC and phthalate free.
