Beavers are slow on land, but are good swimmers, and can stay under water for as long as 15 minutes.
Description
The beaver is well adapted for life in water. The coat is very dense to insulate against wet and cold. When it swims, it uses the large swimming skin-equipped hind feet to push speed and the tail as a guide. When the beaver dives, both ear and nose openings close. It can be below the surface for up to 15 minutes.
