Unlike deer, which have branched antlers shed annually, bongos and other antelopes have pointed horns they keep throughout their lives.
Description
It is not known if the bongo has a special mating season or if it is individual from animal to animal. A bongo female can be pregnant for about 9 and a half months and she only gives birth to one calf at a time. The calf weighs about 20 kilos when it is born.
The mother usually hides her calf in the first weeks after birth. A bongo calf becomes sexually mature when it is around 20 months old. The lifespan of a bongo is estimated to be between 15 and 20 years.
Dimensions: 7.2cm x 6.3cm
