Placerias was a dicynodont , a group of mammal-like reptiles distantly related to modern mammals. Fossils have been found mainly in the United States, especially in the famous Placerias Quarry in Arizona , where the remains of at least forty individuals have been excavated – a clear sign that the species lived in large herds.
The species is thought to have spent much of its time in shallow water, grazing on reeds and shore plants, much like a modern hippopotamus. CollectA's model captures Placeria's robust body shape, powerful tusks and distinctive beaked mouth with impressive realism.
