Smilodon (Greek for knife-tooth), (often referred to as saber-toothed tiger but the name is also used for other mammals) is an extinct genus within the cat family, containing the saber-toothed cats (saber-toothed tiger etc). Distinctive were two extremely long canines.
Description
Exciting facts:
A fully grown smilodon weighed around 300 kg. All had short tails, strong legs and massive heads. Its size is roughly that of a lion, but stronger and almost twice as heavy. The jaws could be opened 95 degrees, to expose the approximately 17 cm long fangs.
Scientific name: Smilodon gracilis
Made of PVC, painted with non-toxic acrylic paints.
