Eofauna - American mastodon (Mammut americanum)

In 1801, it became the first fossil vertebrate to be reconstructed and mounted for display in North America. It was one of the most massive and advanced mammoth species. Recently, several specimens from the western United States were classified as belonging to the new species Mammut pacificum.
