Description Scabbers is a rat, which belonged to the Weasley family from the fall of Voldemort until one year before his return. Scabbers was actually Peter Pettigrew, Slingersvans. Pettigrew considered it best for his own safety to assume the shape of a rat permanently. Scabbers originally belonged to Percy Weasley, but were given to Ron Weasley when he was to begin his first year at Hogwarts.
