Iguanodon was the largest member of the Iguanodontia family and is estimated to have been about 9 meters long and weighed 4-5 tons.
Description
When the fossil of iguanodon was first found, and an attempt was made to identify them, several misinterpretations were made. At first it was thought that the bones and teeth found were from herbivorous mammals. But then it was discovered that it was a kind of reptile, and a man named Hawkins built a model of how it was thought that the animal looked. The model was hollow, and scientists ate a meal together inside it. More models were made, and they were exhibited in Crystal Palace Park in London. The statues still stand today.
