Description
Octopuses have three hearts. Two gill hearts pump blood through the gills, while the third pumps blood through the body. Octopus blood contains the copper-rich protein hemocyanin to transport oxygen. Although less effective under normal conditions than the iron-rich hemoglobin in vertebrates, oxygen in hemocyanin is transported more efficiently under cold conditions with low oxygen pressure.

Characteristics:

Almost all octopuses have a camouflage defense system, allowing them to change their skin color to blend into areas around the ocean floor to hide from prey and predator alike.
