Also known as the little brown bat, it is a fairly small member of the Vespertilionidae family found throughout North America. In fact, brown bats are believed to be the most common bat species found in North America.
Description
Many bats that live in temperate zones either hibernate or emigrate to cope with the cold winter months. But the brown bat does both. When it gets cold in the fall, brown bats will fly south and mate. After they have mated, they rest in the dormant region until they can once again return north for the spring and summer.
Scientific name: Myotis lucifugus
Characteristics:
As with most bat species, the brown bat is primarily active at night and before dawn. Don't worry - we promise this beautifully crafted figurine won't be fluttering around your house all night!

As the name suggests, the brown bat is a solid brown color, with slightly lighter sections around the wings. At 4 inches tall and 9 inches wide, it's an inch shorter than a soda can and a little wider than a team-size piece of paper.
