Safari Ltd - Grey Wolf Howling

One way wolves use howling is like a 'social cry'; ylandet allows the flock members to communicate their existing place to the other flock members. This loud cry when hunting to warn other herds of wolves nearby, by pointing out that there is already another group occupying the surrounding area. The howling is therefore a strategic noise, but at the same time it also defines the strict hierarchy in the herd.

Description
The leader pair - the alpha wolves - start the chorus with an initial low howl; this is followed by a howl from the beta wolf, which assumes a higher, more elongated howl; then come the cries from wolves of lower rank, which produce more varied sounds.
