The Irish Draught horse is the national horse breed of Ireland which developed primarily for farm use.
Description
History:
Irish draft, or the Irish carriage, has been bred in Ireland for many centuries by crossing domestic mares with large, heavy cold-blooded horses, often imported from France. During the 16th and 17th centuries, some changes also took place through crossbreeding with the famous Spanish horses.
Scientific Name: Equus caballus
Characteristics:
The Irish draft horses are tall and strong and can carry very heavy riders, even in very difficult terrain.
The Irish draft is part of the Barnyard Buddies collection.
