Description
The species occurs in the eastern Atlantic mainly along the west coast of Africa south to Gabon. In addition, it is documented from the coast of France. In the western Atlantic, the range extends from Rhode Island to Brazil. The white shark is also found in the Caribbean Sea. Another population lives in the Pacific along the coast of America from the Baja California peninsula to Peru. The shark lives near the coast up to a depth of 130 meters.
