Description
King vulture is a carrion-eating bird of prey that belongs to the New World vulture family. It places as the only species in the genus Sarcoramphus, but fossils from other species of the genus are known.
The king vulture is found mainly in tropical lowland forests of South and Central America, and its range extends from southern Mexico to northern Argentina and Brazil.
The king vulture is large and mainly white in color but has black feathers on its wings, tail and collar. Head and neck lack feathers. The skin here can have different colors, including yellow, orange, blue, purple and red. The king vulture has a conspicuous fleshy wart on its beak.
