The okapi is the closest living relative of the giraffe. While it lacks its cousin's characteristic long neck, it shares features like the knobby ossicones on its head, and a distinctly long tongue.
Description The Safari Okapi, or Congolese Giraffe is a great model of the African forest animal. While its closest relative is a giraffe, the okapi looks more like a cross between a deer and a zebra. It is painted predominantly dark brown, with white striped markings on its legs and a shaded white face, tall brown ears and a dark tail.
