Skunks are related to badgers, otters and wolverines, but are now in their own family. They are well known for their ability to spray a foul-smelling liquid as a defense mechanism. Their striking white and black fur patterns warn other animals to avoid being sprayed with the foul-smelling liquid that is difficult to remove.

Description
Skunk is found almost everywhere in the United States, large parts of Canada and northeastern Mexico. When threatened, it will lift its bushy tail in a defensive position and, if that is not enough, spray a chemical mixture from its olfactory glands.

This spray can travel several meters and even cause temporary burns if it reaches the eyes. But the most important thing is - it stinks! A skunk chemical - a mixture of sulfur - can sit in clothes, skin and fur for weeks.

Scientific name: Mephitis mephitis

Characteristics:

Beware! This Skunk is ready to spray! With his tail raised and his back arched, this little stinker is ready to defend himself. But do not worry our skunk smells much better than the real one.

Size and color:

It is 2 inches long and 2 inches high at the tip of its raised tail. The color is the characteristic skunk pattern of black with white stripes that run down each side of the back, meet at the forehead and at the end of the tail.
