Dasyatis is a genus of stingrays that was described by Rafinesque in 1810. According to the Catalog of Life, Dasyatis is part of the spearfish family, but according to Dyntaxa, it belongs instead to the spearfish family.
This model is of the larger type that Safari Ltd makes and the series is called the Incredible Creatures® collection. A nice detailed coat that makes the marine biologist look extra closely.

Properties:
This figure is very detailed from the sting on the tail to the spiracles behind the eyes. The curves of its flat disc-shaped body are undulating to simulate the movement of the stingray as it swims through the water.
Size and Color:
This model measures 7 inches to the tip of the tail and is 4 inches wide. The color is brown above with mottled markings to help it blend into the sandy seabed and white below.
