The bull shark is found in warm tropical waters but is one of the few shark species that can migrate in and out of fresh water. The bull shark can swim far up rivers such as the Mississippi River in North America, the Amazon River in South America, and the Zambesi River in Africa. It also lives in lakes, such as Lake Nicaragua.
Description
Bull sharks are far from the largest shark species but are among the most dangerous. While it is important to remember that shark attacks are exceptionally rare regardless of species, bull sharks are responsible for a large proportion of reported attacks. They are known to swim up freshwater rivers and estuaries, especially in South America, Africa and India, and as a result they encounter humans much more often than other types of sharks.
Scientific name: Carcharhinus leucas
Properties:
Bull sharks got their name in part because of their broad, plump bodies, but also because of their unpredictable and aggressive behavior. Like all Safari wildlife figures, this model is individually hand-painted, designed with scientific accuracy in mind.
Size and Color:
5.75 inches long and 2.25 inches high. Like many shark species, bull sharks have gray backs and white undersides.
Bull Shark is part of the Wild Safari® Sea Life collection.
