Sleepy Dragons were once kept as pets. Their easy-going nature and calm demeanor made them favorites everywhere, from massive stone castles to straw-covered huts. They prefer a cozy rug in front of a crackling fireplace over the dank caves where some of their larger cousins live.
Description
History
One of few dragons to be fully domesticated, it’s thought that Sleepy Dragons were first discovered by ancient Celtic forest dwellers. Over time, they became staples in castle great rooms, often spending days on end dreaming near stone fireplaces. Archeologists occasionally report sighting Sleepy Dragons snoozing in the ruins of medieval castles.
Story
The dank, half-buried ruin promised to hold the answers to several mysteries. For years, the archeologist had been studying the Celtic kingdoms of northern England. She’d recently discovered a ruined village long ago taken back by the forest. Now, she realized the village had been home to a king, for nothing else could explain the massive stone structure before her. It must be a great hall. The roof was long gone, and vines and trees covered the walls, yet they were mostly intact. She shone her light inside and began to step carefully through the jumble of stones and leafy growth, excitement growing. Suddenly, the beam of light found something unexpected, a large purplish lump near the end of the hall. She moved closer, then stopped suddenly. It was…breathing. There was no mistaking it. This large figure was alive. She peered more closely, noticing a long tail, horns, claws. So it was true. Sleep Dragons did exist. She smiled. The Archeology journals had no idea what was coming.
